So, before the plague hit our house I couldn't help but want to get some fall flowers in some pots to perk up the front. As you can see from my picture, our front yard is in pitiful shape. We had a beautiful lawn in the spring, but we've had the hottest summer on record so nothing has really made it.
The stores have started getting pansies and mums and so I couldn't help myself and buy some. But, it is still hot here and I'm hoping they'll make it.
I usually buy yellow because I find these colors pop from the road. As much as I love the burgundy and deep purples, they don't show up as well. But, I did give in and get some of the purple pansies because they were just beautiful.
Oh, and the dirt on the ground by the pot in the far right of the picture is not because I'm a sloppy gardener, that would be where the darn squirrels got in my pot and dug. If I catch them again, they are going to regret it. I've heard putting moth balls in pots will work, but I keep forgetting to pick some up at the store.
I'm excited to share my two big mixed pots with you. I have the coolest plant that I got for the middle of them. I went to a wonderful local nursery and the lady was so nice and recommend this plant. She said it would last through the winter in the pot. I told her I was looking for something spiky to go in the middle. Doesn't it have a cool Halloween look to it with the crinkles in the branches?
So that is what is going here in my neck of the woods.
Oh, and comment #9 submitted by Penny Watcher was the winner for the Chex prize pack. I was able to get in touch with her over the weekend. Congrats on your win! I'm sitting here blogging and eating some Chex. Love that stuff. Have a great day!
