Fall Flowers

Digg!
Have I mentioned I've got two sick kids? LOL I am praying we all are on the upswing. We have been to the pediatrician's three times since last Wednesday. And today I'm starting to feel crummy from allergies. I am just praying everyone will take a good nap this afternoon. This momma is worn out and it is only Wednesday.

So, before the plague hit our house I couldn't help but want to get some fall flowers in some pots to perk up the front. As you can see from my picture, our front yard is in pitiful shape. We had a beautiful lawn in the spring, but we've had the hottest summer on record so nothing has really made it.

The stores have started getting pansies and mums and so I couldn't help myself and buy some. But, it is still hot here and I'm hoping they'll make it.

I usually buy yellow because I find these colors pop from the road. As much as I love the burgundy and deep purples, they don't show up as well. But, I did give in and get some of the purple pansies because they were just beautiful.

Oh, and the dirt on the ground by the pot in the far right of the picture is not because I'm a sloppy gardener, that would be where the darn squirrels got in my pot and dug. If I catch them again, they are going to regret it. I've heard putting moth balls in pots will work, but I keep forgetting to pick some up at the store.

I'm excited to share my two big mixed pots with you. I have the coolest plant that I got for the middle of them. I went to a wonderful local nursery and the lady was so nice and recommend this plant. She said it would last through the winter in the pot. I told her I was looking for something spiky to go in the middle. Doesn't it have a cool Halloween look to it with the crinkles in the branches?

So that is what is going here in my neck of the woods.

Oh, and comment #9 submitted by Penny Watcher was the winner for the Chex prize pack. I was able to get in touch with her over the weekend. Congrats on your win! I'm sitting here blogging and eating some Chex. Love that stuff. Have a great day!

What a week. And it is only Monday.

Digg!
What a two weeks it looks like I'm going to have. Last week my youngest was sick with a sinus infection. Then the oldest was the doctor's this morning with an ear infection. Seems like we can't win. Oh yeah, and the youngest will be two next month and has decided to start full force into the terrible twos. Good times people. Good times.

Well, put the little one to bed and he has been off an antibiotic for one day and has a temperature again. And the oldest is crying because he doesn't feel good. For the love of everything that is good, when will this nightmare of sickness end?

So, that is all from here today. Hope to check in tomorrow. Wishing you a healthy week in your neck of the woods.

Good Gluten Solution

Digg!
A few weeks ago the folks at MyBlogSpark contacted me and asked if I'd be interested in trying some Chex products. I said sure, sign me up! I love Chex cereals. As a little girl I'll never forget our next door neighbor (really she was our back door neighbor, she lived behind us) Ann who would always make us a nice batch of Chex Mix at the holidays. I have such fond memories of her kindess and that tasty holiday treat.

I am blessed that so far no one in my family has any gluten issues. But, it is something I have heard that more folks are facing and I've noticed in the store that there are more products coming on the market that can help people who have gluten issues. I can't imagine how hard it must be to have to change what you are eating, so I was glad to hear that Chex cereals are a product that can help folks who have gluten issues.

If you know of anyone who has gluten issues, you might want to check out the great gluten free recipes available on the Chex website. http://www.chex.com/Recipes/GlutenFree.aspx The website has really cool recipes like Favorite Chicken Nuggets and Chex Muddy Buddies.

First Day of Preschool

Digg!

My little guy had his first day of preschool today. I was worried he was going to cry, but he went right in. He has the cutest Thomas the Tank Engine backpack and lunch box. Toys R' Us had a great deal going where if you bought a backpack over $12.99 you could get a free lunchbox. So we got this set. I think that my youngest wants one even though he doesn't go to preschool. Thomas is very popular here.

So that is our big day today. Hope you are having a great day in your neck of the woods!

Potty Equals M and Ms

Digg!
I had hoped to have time to post today, but we are in the throes of potty training. So, I am busy with that. God bless the people at Mars for their M and Ms because that seems to be working as our reward. Also, the cool M and M dispenser my parents recently purchased at an M and Ms store in Las Vegas is a big deal too. I'll post a picture of it later.

Monday I will be blogging about Chex and have a fabulous giveaway so be sure to stop by.

Have a wonderful and safe holiday weekend!

End of Summer Shopping at Old Navy

Digg!
The other day I got a chance to stop by Old Navy and wow have they got a lot of stuff on sale. I've found that this is a great time of the year to pick up basics like t-shirts and tank tops. Those are pieces that I wear year round. I find that they are great to layer.

And I'm in love with some of the fall clothes Old Navy has out right now. I'm excited to see that ponchos are still in fashion. http://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=46470&vid=1&pid=772130&scid=772130002 I'm not a huge jacket person, so I love the look and flexibility you get with putting on a poncho.

And this faux vest is so Rachel Zoe and it is sure to get PETA's stamp of approval. http://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=46470&vid=1&pid=792843&scid=792843002

So what fashion trends are you loving for the fall?

We are in the midst of getting ready for back to school for preschool, so that has been keeping us busy this week. Between the long school supply list we were given and getting haircuts, etc. we have been hopping.

Hope you are having a great time in your neck of the woods!
