Fabulous Favorite Friday

Digg!
Happy Friday everyone! The sun is finally shining here and we are ready for the weekend. I'm not a football fan, but Super Bowl Sunday is fun to get together with family and friends to be together. It is always fun to see what kind of dishes everyone brings. And I enjoy seeing what kind of creative commercials come out during the game.

My Fabulous Favorite Friday pick are a few things today. I was at Michael's last night and picked up these goodies. For those of you scratching your head, the four gray colored items are called chipboard books. They are mini scrapbooking albums and come in these fun shapes. Michael's has them right now for $1 a piece. You can cover them with scrapbooking paper and put your pictures on them. The two smaller items to the right of the picture are a cupid paper punch and then the other item is a roller which when applied to your paper, I think says "I love you". Mine is upstairs and I'm going from memory on what it rolls out. They were only $1 also.

If you have kids, I was thinking that the heart albums would make cute favors for them to give to friends for Valentine's Day. Right now Target has packs of Valentine's paper in the scrapbooking section, so you could do a bag with this album and a pack of paper. If you only have a few kids to buy for then you could easily make little scrapping kits with $5 worth of different products.

I love the different shapes of these albums. They make fun little coffee table books. They come with about 5 different pages and have a little metal ring which helps hold them together.

Give Away Time!
I'm going to hold you in suspense all weekend, but I will tell you that starting Monday I'm going to be doing a fabulous give away. It is for such a cool product, you've got to come back to check it out.

Have a great weekend!

Target Love

Digg!

Happy Wednesday everyone! The weather is so crummy here. It is cold and rainy. At least if it was going to e crummy weather to prevent us to go outside, we'd like to see some pretty snow flakes.

Today I thought I'd share two of my recent Target finds. The first are these cute pair of cleaning gloves. They were only a dollar in the dollar spot. They had another pair too which I believe were some kind of blue pattern. I love this cheery lime green and pink combo. It is so girly. I thought they were so cute. I might as well try to look chic while cleaning the bathrooms. Forget the June Cleaver pearls and heels, get yourself a cute pair of gloves. With Valentine's Day coming up, these would be a fun, inexpensive thing to give a friend. Show some glove love to your hands and your friend's hands.

My second Target find were these Wellington boots. I bought these about 2 weeks ago. I've had my eye on them for a while and figured I'd take a chance to see if they would go on clearance and they did. They were originally $24 and they marked them down to $12. I loved this pair because I knew they would look cute with lots of different outfits. Since we get primarily rain and not tons of snow, I figured these would be a good thing to have. I wore them out last night for girl's night out. They kept my feet dry and they weren't too hot. My jeans were able to tuck in them comfortably (notice the adjustable straps on the sides). So, I highly recommend them.

They also had another pair of these boots that had different hearts all over them. They were really cute too.

I hope things are going well in your part of the world. Have a happy hump day!

Happy Chinese New Year and Happy Birthday!

Digg!
Happy Chinese New Year everyone! I love the ox that they've got on Yahoo's website. That is so cute. I think I may tell my husband I want him to pick up Chinese food on the way home. I was at Party City recently and they had cute Chinese New Year decorations. One day I'll have a CNY party. By the way, over on the Alpha Mom website they have a cute Chinese Lanter project you can do. http://www.alphamom.com/holiday/2009/01/celebrate_chinese_new_year_wit_1.php

I'm also excited CHA has started this week. Lots of cool new scrapbooking things to check out. And Making Memories is celebrating on their blog. Good stuff. http://www.makingmemories.typepad.com/

If you read the title of my post, it says Happy Birthday. And that is because my sweet little niece, Harper was born Saturday evening. Here I am holding the little princess.

Unfortunately my sister had to have an emergency c-section, but everything turned out great and she and baby Harper are doing well.

Harper weighed 6 pounds 13 ounces. She beat her cousin Logan by 2 ounces, but she was 18 inches long and he was 20 and 1/2 inches long when he was born. She feels so light compared to holding him now that he is 12 pounds. I can't wait to get them together and take a picture of them side by side on a blanket. It is hard to believe Logan will be 3 months old on Thursday. Time is flying by!

It is so neat seeing so much pink and head bands and bling. I got to visit with them for a long time yesterday. It was fun seeing my sister pull out a hair brush to brush Harper's hair and putting a head band on her. It is like a little Barbie come to life. We loved playing dress up with them when we were little.

So welcome to the world sweet Harper. Aunt Shelly can't wait to bake cookies and play Barbies with you!

Fabulous Favorite Friday

Digg!
Happy Friday everyone! We made it through another week. January is just flying by. It is hard to believe that we haven't had a big snow yet.

For my Fabulous Favorite Friday picks, I thought I'd share a few things that I've been snacking on in the evening. This first thing I discovered when I had gestational diabetes. I've always liked cheese, but with the gestational diabetes I needed something that was already portioned out so I could count carbs. These little cheeses by Land O Lakes are great because they snack size and since they are wrapped individually, they are handy to take with you.
I also really like their size because Sawyer likes to eat them and it is just the right portion for him to eat. I personally like the Colby Jack but they also have Cheddar.

The other part of my snack with my cheese has been Triscuits. I have gotten the Reduced Fat crackers. I have noticed recently that they have a number of new flavors out including some that have rosemary. Those were a tad strong for me, so I just stick with the original flavor. The other flavors would be great to have something different for a party. I like the crunchy taste and a few of these are filling.

The other part of my snack has been the Crystal Light on the Go Pink Lemonade. I really like these packets because you can just put them into your bottle water and shake them and it jazzes up your water.
This was another thing I discovered I could have when I had gestational diabetes. Even though that has gone, these are some smallthings I've decided to keep in my diet. I have a sweet tooth and since soda isn't always the best thing, the Crystal Light is a great thing to have. It comes is so many different flavors. I have also tried the Fruit Punch flavor, as well as some of the tea flavors they have.
I hope you enjoy these snack options. I know a lot of folks are trying to change their diets and eat healthy. So hopefully these will be some new things to try. Have a great weekend!

No sleep but we are dreaming of Valentine's

Digg!
I'm on day 5 of no sleep with these kids. I thought the baby was turning the corner with starting to sleep through the night, but no such luck. Last night both kids woke up in the middle of the night so no one got any sleep.

Even though I haven't been getting a lot of sleep, I have been thinking about Valentine's Day. We've put up Valentine's window clings on the kitchen windows. I've also got another cute decoration idea that I'll share with you later this week when I get a chance to take a picture. I had an opportunity to get together with some friends Friday night and I was too tired to scrapbook, so I played with some of my scrapbooking supplies to make some decorations.

I think that it is fun to decorate for Valentine's Day since everything gets so bare after all the Christmas decorations get put up. The red is cheery on these long winter days. I'll be posting some more Valentine's related posts in the next few weeks.

Well, I guess I'll go try and crash on the couch. Hope you are having a great day where you are and that you are staying warm.

Fabulous Favorite Friday

Digg!
Well, it is finally Friday. What a week this has been. One minute it seemed to drag and the next it was flying by.

Some things I've learned this week is that my baby boy will quiet his screaming down in the car when Beyonce is cranking out "Single Ladies" and Taylor Swift's "Love Story". I guess I'm raising this boy to be a romantic who knows how to treat a lady. LOL I've also learned that if given the choice a two year old will think it is ok to eat peanut butter and crackers for every meal if asked what they want.

This week for my Fabulous Favorite Friday pick I wanted to share with you my latest discovery. Jello pudding singles. I found this image on the Internet, but we tried chcolate pudding and not the vanilla. The great thing about these is that they make a single serving of pudding that literally sets up in 5 minutes. This is great since little ones can be impatient with waiting. I only used a fork to stir in the milk and it was ready to go.

Sawyer loved the chocolate pudding and ate the whole serving up by himself. So, I'd say he is a big fan.

I was thinking since you get 6 servings that if you had these in your pantry and had company stop by, you could easily make a few of these to put together a trifle really quickly with a pound cake and some fruit.

I hope you are having a great week! Have a fabulous weekend and be sure to check back next week!

Cookie Baking Weather

Digg!
Hola Internet friends. I can't believe we are already well into January. And it is starting to feel like January here. It is only supposed to get to a high of 45 and then the temps are plunging starting tonight. They say it will be 28 on Friday and 11 degrees that night. Yikes! I am thinking warm thoughts and I'm completely jealous of Gabrielle Blair over at Design Mom http://www.designmom.com/ She is vacationing in Mexico right now and the beach picture she has posted looks so yummy. I would love some sun and sand right now. Especially as my two year old demands more peanut butter and crackers and proceeds to throw them on the kitchen floor again. He will eat peanut butter for every snack and meal if I let him. And would probably chase that down with some ketchup if I'd let him. Calgon take me away.

When the temperatures get really cold outside, that always inspires me to cook. I've decided to do some more recipes from the Deceptively Delicious cook book. Today I've made carrot and squash purees, as well as baked some sweet potatoes. I'll have to let y'all know how we like the recipes I choose and resume my recipe reviews that I started here on the blog last year. With my luck Sawyer won't even try them. You've gotta love that independent streak toddlers get. Yeah right.

I think if this cold snap continues there may be some chocolate chip cookies getting baked in our future. Cold weather always makes me want to bake cookies.

I hope you are having a good week where you are and staying warm!

Fabulous Favorite Friday

Digg!
Happy Friday everyone! The sun is finally shining here. I'm over cold, rainy weather. I guess I'd better get used to it because spring won't be here anytime soon.
Logan had his 2 month check up today and he weighed in at a whopping 12 pounds 12 ounces. We are having to return some of the clothes he was given for Christmas because he is already too big for them. He is already wearing 3 month size clothes. Poor little guy had to get 5 shots. He had a good report and is doing well. I'm sure he will sleep a lot this afternoon. I hope that we get some sleep tonight. Yikes!
My Fabulous Favorite Friday pick today is Cover Girl's new Tru Blend make up. I bought this a few weeks ago. They had a coupon in the Sunday paper where if you bought one CG product you got one free. So, I bought a bottle of their foundation and got their Tru Blend minerals powder. I love this makeup. I had been using Mary Kay foundation, but with the holidays here I needed to save a few bucks and decided to give this makeup a try. I am so glad I did.
The thing I love about this foundation is that it isn't heavy feeling on my face. It blends in really easy and gives a smooth finish. It lasts me all day. I also really like the powder. It doesn't feel heavy either and it goes on easily. The provide you with a powder puff and a little bit goes a long way. I have combination skin and this seems to work well for me.
I didn't know this when I bought mine and discovered afterwards that CG has a numbering system so that if you buy they foundation and want to match up the powder, then there is a number on the front of each of the products that you match. As you can see from the picture above, that is #1 and if you want the powder you just get #1. My powder number doesn't match the foundation, it is a shade darker but you can't tell when I wear it. It is actually a good thing for me because I'm so fair that having the powder a tad darker is good for the winter and gives me a little bit of color. So it all worked out.
I highly recommend this makeup. The price is great especially if you are trying to cut costs. With the tough economic times folks are facing, you've got to watch your pennies these days. I believe the bottle of foundation ran around $7 at Wal Mart. And as I mentioned, I got the powder for free by using a coupon from the Sunday paper so keep your eyes peeled for great deals like that. I've used Mary Kay, Clinique, and Lancome in the past and I think this stacks up to them just as well with just a cheaper price tag.
Since it seems like so many celebrities are hawking makeup these days, spokeswomen for this make up are Ellen Degeneres, Queen Latifah, Drew Barrymore. And I'm sure there is someone else I'm forgetting. Such a wide, diverse group of folks for these products.
If you go to Cover Girl's website, you can find out which of the TruBlend color shades match your skin tone. Here is a link if you are interested. http://www.covergirl.com/products/collections/tru/
If you end up trying this makeup, I'd love to hear how you like it. Be sure to drop me an email or leave a comment here on the blog.
Here is wishing you a great weekend!

Ho, Ho, Holiday Lights In January

Digg!

Happy Thursday everyone! I know that the holidays are over with, but I still wanted to share some video we took over the holidays at some of the big lights displays that we had a chance to visit. We are so sad that all of the holiday lights are gone. It was so fun to drive around at night and check them out.

The video above is actually about 4 video clips I put together of the same house. We only had the digital camera with us and it only allows you to take short video clips. DH took these video clips because I was driving. This display is incredible. These folks have a couple acres and they have hundreds of different things. They have a big drive way you enter one way and exit another way. It is incredible to drive through.

Spam a Lot

Digg!
Happy Monday everyone. It is hard to believe it is the first full week of January. A new year full of new possibilities. The most exciting thing for me right now is in the next few weeks we will be on baby watch for my sister. Logan and Sawyer are getting a new baby cousin. Her name is going to be Harper and we can't wait to meet her. I've never seen so much pink in one place. LOL Such a difference from all the dinosaur and blue outfits at our house.

My In Box
I've had to chuckle this morning as I went through my spam folder and glanced at the 523 spam emails that I've received. Apparently I need a new career in CSI and Vista Print has some free business cards to get me started. And if that doesn't work out someone named Michael Vincent has found me a new job and I didn't even ask him to look. But, I know I won't need to choose either of those because either I'm going to qualify for a government grant or I'll get a scholarship even though I've finished college. I think I'll use my new found money to buy the Pedi Paw and Sham Wow that I keep getting so many emails about. And if that doesn't work, I'm sure there is someone in Nigeria who will split the profits with me. So all in all 2009 is going to be a great year. LOL

I hope you are having a great day where you are! And don't forget to leave a comment on Friday's post before midnight tonight so you can get in on the Chex Mix Turtle Bars give away. Those bars taste much better than spam.

Happy New Year!

Digg!
Happy New Year everyone! I'm not usually into doing resolutions, but I thought I'd try a few this year and sees what happens.

1. Have more fun this year. We have two little guys and I am determined for all of us to get the most out life and to enjoy it. So, I'm going to be looking at fun projects for us to do together.

2. Blog more often. I'd like get more blogging in and I hope that Logan will start to sleep more at night which will allow me to get more into a routinue.

3. Try more recipes to get veggies in us. My morning sickness and gestational diabetes threw a monkey wrench in that plan for 2008.

For now I think that is all I better try to tackle. So, are you making any New Year's resolutions? I'd love to hear. Leave me a comment and let me know what you are doing.

And to ring in the new year I think it would be great to do a give away. So, leave me a comment on this post between now and midnight, Monday, January 5th and I 'll put your name in the hat to receive a free box of the new Chex Mix Turtle bars. Snack your way into the new year in style.

Happy New Year Ya'll!
